Japan Airlines Flight 123 was a Japan Airlines domestic flight from Tokyo International Airport to Osaka International Airport. The Boeing 747-SR46 that made this route, registered JA8119, crashed into the ridge of Mount Takamagahara in Gunma Prefecture, 100 km from Tokyo, on Monday August 12, 1985. The crash site was on Osutaka-no-O’ne (Osutaka Ridge), near Mount Osutaka. All 15 crew members and 505 out of 509 passengers died: a total of 520 deaths. It remains the deadliest single-aircraft disaster in history, and the second-worst aviation accident of all time, after the Tenerife disaster (not counting ground victims). The four female survivors were seated towards the rear of the plane: Yumi Ochiai, an off-duty JAL flight attendant, age 25, who was jammed between a number of seats; Hiroko Yoshizaki, a 34-year-old woman and her 8-year-old daughter Mikiko Yoshizaki, who were trapped in an intact section of the fuselage; and a 12-year-old girl, Keiko Kawakami, who was found wedged between branches in a tree.[1] Among the dead was the famous singer Kyu Sakamoto.

@ninetailedsaru2 Vengeful Jesus cant handle a bit of criticism/rejection? Wow.
It’d be quite a messed up god that’d torture those people for half an hour for no reason before killing them with no chance for escape. Its unlikely that those Japanese pilots were into christianity anyways.
And I agree, The pilots were heros. A top Japanese engineer committed suicide after he found out of his responsibility in botching the repair job that would later doom the passengers.. RIP with honour.

This is just really messed up, you knew you where gonna die on that flight probably, and these pilots are definitely heroes, thats really hard to keep the plane under control that long, they should have medals posthumously awarded to their families, all respect for those who died that day
    R.I.P.

I have nothing but respect for those pilots for keeping the plane in the air as long as they did. They never gave up.

@mhb83 fuck your mom. You don’t have to waste your life on religion, just spend some time on it, and don’t be a loser like yourself saying “fuck Jesus and fuck you”, grow up, because you don’t even know if he’s real, if he is then you’re obviously going to pay for what your saying.

a terrible accident caused by a bad repair by the “boing” on a panel, not a double bolting It has been done that could save the lives of those people. and ‘the panel that was broken off the plane because of the pressure slice’ drift tail pipes and hydraulic fluids, preventing pilots control the plane.

I spent the best year of my life in Osaka, Japan and travelled on JAL – teaching English. After reading the translation and listening, I am in tears.
